A Proven Star at Evanston High School

Jordan Mendez has certainly made a name for himself during his time at Evanston High School (EHS). As a three-year starter and letter-winner, he has shown remarkable dedication and skill on the basketball court. Mendez earned all-conference honors in the competitive 4A West during the 2025 season, showcasing his talent in a league with tough competition.

During his impressive high school career, Jordan played a key role in leading the Evanston Red Devils to two consecutive appearances in the 4A basketball state tournament. His hard work paid off as he averaged 11.6 points per game with an impressive shooting percentage of 47 percent from the field in the 2024-25 season alone.

Leading the Charge

In his senior year, Mendez stood out as he led Evanston’s offense to be the top in Class 4A for field goal shooting, hitting a staggering 46.9 percent. An all-around player, he excelled both in scoring and playmaking, ranking amongst the top five in the 4A West for assists and steals. His three assists per game and 1.7 steals are a testament to his well-rounded game.

Despite a tough season—where the Red Devils finished with a record of 15-12—Mendez’s contributions significantly impacted his team’s performance. They placed second in the 4A Southwest Conference and third at the 4A West Regional Tournament. At the state tournament, the team managed to get a game under its belt despite losing to Natrona County in the consolation game.

A Journey through the High School Ranks

Looking back, Jordan’s junior year (2023-24) was marked by growth as he averaged 5.1 points and led EHS with 1.8 assists per game. His contributions helped the team secure a 13-15 overall record and a berth in the state tournament. Mendez’s sophomore year (2022-23) also saw him shine with an average of 6.8 points and a team-high of 2.2 assists.

But basketball wasn’t the only sport where Mendez shone. He showcased his athleticism and versatility by also playing soccer for the Red Devils throughout high school. In the 2025 season, he led the soccer team with an impressive total of seven goals.

Looking Ahead to Central Wyoming College

Jordan Mendez is now headed to Central Wyoming College, located in Riverton, where the men’s basketball team competes in Region IX of the NJCAA. The college team had a record of 10-20 in the 2024-25 season, but with the addition of talented players like Mendez, there’s hope for a brighter future.
