Omaha, Nebraska is getting ready to host the 2025 NCAA Division I baseball tournament, with an exciting atmosphere building around the Men’s College World Series (MCWS). The tournament will begin with a 64-team field competing in the regionals before narrowing down to 16 teams at the super regionals. Finally, the top eight teams will make their way to Omaha from June 13 to June 22/23 for the much-anticipated MCWS.
The bracket for this year’s tournament was announced on May 26, revealing all the participating teams. The tournament is structured in a straightforward way: it starts with multiple regional games, followed by super regionals. After those rounds, the survivors head to Omaha, where they’ll battle it out in two double-elimination brackets. The winners from each bracket will then face off in a best-of-three championship series to determine the NCAA champion.
The MCWS will take place at Charles Schwab Field Omaha, which is known for being a top venue for college baseball. For fans looking to cheer on their teams, ticket information for the event has also been made available.
It’s interesting to note that the NCAA DI baseball tournament has a rich history. The very first tournament was held back in 1947 with just eight teams. Over the years, it has grown tremendously, and since 2025, 29 conference champions receive automatic berths into the tournament while an additional 35 teams earn at-large bids based on their performance throughout the season.
Last year, in 2024, the Tennessee Volunteers claimed the championship by defeating Texas A&M in a thrilling three-game series, marking a significant achievement as the first No. 1 overall seed to win since 1999. With this year’s tournament around the corner, anticipation is high for who will emerge as the next champion in the storied history of the Men’s College World Series.
