Omaha Set to Host 2025 Men’s College World Series

Omaha, Nebraska is gearing up to welcome the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s College World Series (MCWS), an event that celebrates the best college baseball teams in the nation. The tournament kicks off with a 64-team field competing during the regionals, followed by a super regional round that narrows the competition down to 16 teams. Ultimately, only eight teams will make it to Omaha, where they will battle it out from June 13 to June 22/23 for the championship title.

This year’s tournament will be organized into two double-elimination brackets. The winners from each bracket will face off in a best-of-three championship series. Fans and teams eagerly await the selection show on May 26 at 12 p.m. ET, where the tournament bracket will be revealed. Viewers can tune in on ESPN2 or ESPNU to see which teams earned their spots.

Automatic bids will be awarded to 29 conference champions, while 35 additional teams will receive at-large selections, decided by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. This setup allows for a competitive mix of teams from across the country vying for the top title in college baseball.

The MCWS has a rich history, dating back to its inception in 1947 when only eight teams participated. Since then, the tournament has evolved significantly, expanding its competitive field and format. Tennessee emerged as the champion in 2024, becoming the first No. 1 overall seed to win the MCWS since Miami (Fla.) did it back in 1999.
