Anna Dymek has been swimming competitively since she was just six years old, establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with in the pool. With an impressive track record that includes qualifying for the Junior Olympics at ages 10, 12, and 14, it’s clear that Dymek has a passion for the sport. During her freshman and sophomore years at Lower Merion High School, she showed tremendous talent by qualifying for districts in the 200 individual medley and breaststroke. Dymek also showcased her team spirit by swimming as part of the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay teams at the state level.

Just two days before the 2024 PIAA District 1 3A Championships, she was hospitalized with acute liver failure. It was during this hospitalization that doctors revealed she had been struggling with liver issues since early December of her junior year. Friends had even noticed a yellowish tinge to her eyes that September, an early sign of something being amiss.

Despite her diagnosis, Dymek showed exceptional bravery. She spent eight days in the hospital to restore her liver function and received the news about her health condition. This diagnosis came with its own set of challenges, especially as she became more susceptible to infections due to her treatment regimen.
