Drama in Division 1
In the spotlight of Division 1, Harvard-Westlake, the runner-up from last year, faced an unexpected challenge as they were knocked out by Vista Murrieta with a close score of 8-6. This loss sent shockwaves through their fanbase, proving that anything can happen in high school baseball. The star performers for Vista Murrieta included RJ Holmes and Vaughn Neckar, both delivering spectacular home runs to secure their team’s victory.
Meanwhile, Mira Costa continued their impressive run, defeating Arlington 2-0, pushing their winning streak to a whopping 25 games! The team will be looking to extend that streak further when they face Arcadia in the second round. Santa Margarita also made their mark this past week, pulling off a win against Newport Harbor. They’re gearing up to take on Huntington Beach this Tuesday.
In an additional twist for Division 1, top seeds Corona and Crespi received first-round byes and are prepped to face Los Osos and El Dorado, respectively, in the next round. The playoffs are proving to be full of surprises!
