Los Angeles Looks to Welcome NFL Stars to 2028 Olympics

Los Angeles is buzzing with excitement as several current NFL stars have expressed interest in competing in flag football at the 2028 Summer Olympics. The NFL has announced that team owners will soon discuss a resolution allowing active players to take part in this historic event.

Last month, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell highlighted that many players are eager to represent their countries, whether it is the United States or their country of origin. “I think that’s something that we’ll continue to discuss with, not just the union, but also the clubs,” Goodell said. The star players’ desire to participate in the Olympics is indeed a hot topic, and a resolution may be on the agenda in the coming weeks.

The proposed resolution would permit one player from each NFL team to compete in the Olympic Games. Additionally, an exemption would be available for designated international players who would represent their home countries.

As part of the resolution, there are plans for injury protection and a salary cap credit for players who may get injured while playing in the Olympics. Furthermore, agreements regarding standards for field surfaces will also be established, ensuring that the game is played safely and effectively.

Flag football will make its Olympic debut in 2028, alongside other new sports like baseball/softball, cricket, lacrosse, and squash. The events are set to kick off in mid-July, and it’s expected that they won’t conflict with NFL training camps.

With so much attention on the potential participation of NFL athletes, football fans across the nation are eagerly looking forward to this unique opportunity where their favorite stars might be on an Olympic stage.
