Excitement Builds for Player of the Year Nominees
This year’s nominees for the prestigious Player of the Year award are a talented bunch, each bringing their unique blend of skill, teamwork, and determination to the court. Meet the All-Stars
- Bascones from South: Leading the Inter-High in scoring with an impressive average of 15 points per game, Bascones played a pivotal role in helping her team reach the Division 2 state finals for the second year in a row. Not only did she secure her name in the record books with 15 double-doubles and her 1,000th career point, but she also earned the Inter-High MVP honors for the second time. Next fall, she will take her talents to John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
- Carroll from the Blue Raiders: This powerhouse averaged a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds per game. Leading her team to the Division 5 quarterfinals, Carroll also registered her 1,000th career point and rebound this season. A two-year team captain, she is not only a dedicated athlete but also an active member of the Student Council. She’s been a starter since eighth grade!
- Currier from the Tigers: With an average of 12.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals, Currier was instrumental in leading her team to the semifinals of the Division 5 tournament. - Gahan from the Rams: Averaging 17.5 points, Gahan has made a name for herself as the program’s all-time scoring leader with a remarkable 1,124 points. As she heads to Clemson University to study financial management, she leaves behind a legacy of excellence.
- Gibbons from the Mountaineers: Helping her team clinch their first state championship, Gibbons averaged 12 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals per game. Her shining moment came when she scored a season-high 24 points against Leominster.
- LaGarde from the Wolves: Averaging 8.4 points, she played an essential role in leading her team to the Division 2 tournament. LaGarde will be off to the University of Rhode Island to study nursing in the fall.
