Here’s how the teams are stacked up: four teams are competing in Class 4A, another four in Class 5A, and just one brave team representing El Paso in Class 6A. It’s fantastic to see our local athletes making a splash, don’t you think?

Advancing to the Next Round

This weekend will see the culmination of the area round, wrapping up on Saturday. As we gear up for the games, some teams have already secured their spots in the Sweet 16. The Americas team pulled off an impressive win against Lubbock Coronado in Class 5A, while Clint emerged victorious over Canyon Randall in Class 4A. Way to go, team!

El Paso’s Best Headed to Regional Semifinals

As the competition heats up, only three El Paso squads will continue their journey to glory in the regional semifinals, scheduled for May 15-17. The teams making the cut are:

  • Americas in Class 5A Division 1
  • Riverside in Class 4A Division 2
  • Clint in Class 4A Division 2

Bittersweet Endings

Sadly, it’s not all cheers and victory. Coronado, Del Valle, and Ysleta have seen their seasons come to a close. Each of these teams put in their best efforts, and their dedication has certainly been commendable.

Recapping the Playoff Results

  • Class 6A: Byron Nelson defeated Coronado, 6-4, winning the series 2-0.
  • Class 5A: Americas triumphed over Lubbock Coronado, scoring 4-3 and winning the series 2-0. However, Abilene Wylie edged out Del Valle with scores of 14-0 and 5-4, ultimately winning the series 2-1.
  • Class 4A: Clint took the win against Canyon Randall, landing an 8-6 victory in 8 innings, whereas Seminole brushed past Ysleta with a commanding score of 9-1 to win that series 2-0.
