Houston Texans’ Jayden Higgins Makes NFL History with Groundbreaking Contract
Houston, TX – In a significant development in the NFL, wide receiver Jayden Higgins has cemented his place in history. The Houston Texans have reportedly agreed to a fully guaranteed four-year contract worth $11.7 million with Higgins, making him the first second-round pick ever to receive a fully guaranteed contract in NFL history. This groundbreaking deal comes just after the Texans selected him as the No. 34 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Higgins had an impressive collegiate career, starting at Eastern Kentucky for two seasons before transferring to Iowa State for his final two years. His performance at Iowa State was notable, earning him second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2024. During that season, he recorded a career-high of 87 receptions for 1,183 yards and nine touchdowns. The previous year, he also showcased his skills with 53 catches for 983 yards and six touchdowns.
Alongside Higgins, the Texans’ 2025 draft class also includes players like offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery (round 2, pick 48), another Iowa State wide receiver Jaylin Noel (round 3, pick 79), and cornerback Jaylin Smith (round 3, pick 97), among others. With Higgins and Noel joining forces, they become the second and third Iowa State wide receivers on the Texans’ roster, teaming up with Xavier Hutchinson, who was selected in the sixth round of the previous year’s draft.
This groundbreaking contract marks a new chapter for both Higgins and the Texans as they look to make strides in the upcoming NFL season.
