But first, let’s dive into the outstanding achievements of the players who have brought their A-game over the past week.
Slugging Sensations
Let’s kick off with a show of power at the plate! Loko from Damascus was simply unstoppable. In just one inning of play, he hit two home runs, including a phenomenal leadoff homer and an incredible grand slam in a 22-0 shutout against Watkins Mill. It wasn’t just a fluke; he finished with four RBIs during a subsequent 15-5 victory over Bethesda-Chevy Chase, adding another home run and a double to his collection. Talk about a hitting machine!
Moving over to Llanes from Blair, this junior made quite the impact on the mound. He pitched a complete game with an astounding 11 strikeouts during an 8-1 win against Einstein. That’s no easy feat, and it certainly didn’t go unnoticed!
Pitching Powerhouses
Let’s not forget about the pitchers, because they’ve also been hitting home runs of their own with amazing performances. One standout was a senior from Reservoir who struck out 16 batters over 5.2 innings pitched in a nail-biting 2-0 shutout against Mt. Hebron. It’s hard to fathom the level of skill it takes to dominate like that on the mound!
Also throwing down some serious heat was Byrns from Atholton, who dazzled fans with six no-hit innings and racked up 13 strikeouts during a 7-1 victory over Hammond. The fans must have been on their feet cheering him on—what a remarkable outing!
All Around Excellent Performances
We can’t overlook the offensive fireworks brought to us by Epps from Bowie. He accumulated a whopping four RBIs, a double, and three runs on a stellar 2-for-2 batting performance in a crushing 26-4 win over Bladensburg. As if that weren’t enough, he also struck out nine batters over 3.2 innings pitched in another impressive 21-3 win over Northwestern. Talk about a dual threat!
Next up, we have Pletter from Walter Johnson, who showcased his talent by scoring three RBIs, and hitting a home run and a triple while going 2-for-2 in a dominant 19-0 shutout against Seneca Valley. In a spectacular follow-up game, he also hit two home runs and earned six RBIs during Towson’s 25-2 triumph over Dundalk.
And we can’t forget about Barnes from Douglass, who went 3-for-4 with seven RBIs, six runs scored, and a double in a staggering 33-3 win against Friendly. His performance was nothing short of a home run highlight reel!
Finally, senior Lewis from North Hagerstown wrapped things up with a solid performance, recording four RBIs and a home run, plus striking out six batters in five innings during a 10-6 victory over Williamsport.
