Excitement in Seattle as Seahawks Wrap Up 2025 NFL Draft

Seattle, WA – The Seattle Seahawks kicked off the 2025 NFL Draft with notable excitement and anticipation, having entered the event with a whopping 10 picks, including two in both the second and third rounds. This kind of draft capital was something the Seahawks’ general manager, John Schneider, referred to as having “so much room for activity.”

As the draft unfolded, fans and team staff alike were thrilled by the team’s activity. Schneider and his crew made significant moves, including a trade up in Round 2 and three separate trades on Day 3 within just 20 minutes. By the end of the weekends’ selections, the Seahawks had drafted a total of 11 new players, a move praised by many at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center.

Seattle’s first selection came at No. 18 when they picked Grey Zabel, an interior lineman from North Dakota State who received high marks from the scouting department. Schneider noted, “We were able to land our number one interior offensive lineman.” This selection is especially significant as it represents the highest positioning for an interior lineman since the team picked Hall of Famer Steve Hutchinson back in 2001.

But the excitement didn’t stop there. The Seahawks quickly traded up to secure safety Nick Emmanwori after Day 1 ended, illustrating the team’s intention to bolster the defensive lineup. “We just wanted to make sure we weren’t leaving any talent on the board,” stated Schneider, highlighting their strategic approach to the draft.

Throughout the draft, Schneider maintained a collaborative atmosphere within the war room. He often consulted with his staff, showing confidence in the scouting team’s assessments. “It’s a team effort,” he emphasized.

Seattle made a strong finish on Day 3, selecting a blend of talent across several positions, including Elijah Arroyo (tight end), Tory Horton (receiver), and Damien Martinez (running back). The selection of Martínez especially excited fans, as he previously thrived both at Oregon State and later at the University of Miami.

As the draft concluded on Saturday, the Seahawks were set on enhancing their roster and possibly signing some undrafted free agents. Schneider expressed optimism, saying, “We’re very excited about what we’ve added to this team.” With a blend of intelligence, toughness, and athleticism among the new draftees, the Seahawks are looking ahead for a promising 2025 season.
