NCAA Announces Men’s Golf Regionals Field for 2025
Today in Indianapolis, the NCAA unveiled the lineup for the upcoming 2025 NCAA Division I men’s golf regionals that will take place from May 12 to May 14. The field is made up of 81 teams, featuring 28 conference champions alongside 53 at-large selections. Each of the six regionals will include between 13 to 14 teams and a mix of five or ten individuals not part of advancing teams.
The top five teams from each regional will earn spots in the NCAA Championship kicking off on May 23 at the serene Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California. Among the favorites is the reigning champion, Auburn University, who secured the No. 1 overall seed after their impressive performance at the SEC Championship.
This marks the first time in Clemson’s history that the Tigers will not qualify for a regional, after falling below the .500 mark. Auburn will host a regional at home for the fourth time, having succeeded in each of the previous three attempts.
Other notable teams include Texas A&M, UCLA, and Oklahoma State, who are all set for their chance to advance. Several teams experienced ups and downs this season; for instance, Texas A&M pushed hard against Florida in a close SEC final, finishing 3-2, while UCLA recently clinched its first Big Ten title.
Individually, players such as Jackson Koivun from Auburn are making waves, having won back-to-back SEC individual titles—a feat not seen since 1976. The individuals competing in the regionals include standout players from various universities, offering a mix of fresh talent and seasoned competitors.
This year’s regionals promise excitement and fierce competition as teams vie for NCAA glory and the chance to shine on a national stage. With each regional featuring a well-rounded selection of talented teams and individuals, fans can expect thrilling matches over the course of this championship.
