Set against the backdrop of the Redwood Division of the North Bay League, which also includes local rivals Windsor, Analy, Piner, and Rancho Cotate, the swim season promises to be a real treat for fans and athletes alike.

The 2024 swim meet calendar might be described as “controlled chaos.” Coaches made the collective decision last season that the swimmers were in need of more meets to fine-tune their skills and boost their competitive spirit. This resulted in the introduction of a “double round robin” schedule—a format that allows each team to face off against the others not just once, but twice! In total, each team will participate in a whopping eight meets, upping the stakes and excitement for everyone involved.

However, all this planning hasn’t come without its share of bumps in the road. Recent pool closures and scheduling complications have added an extra layer of difficulty to securing time slots for the meets. Yet, despite these hurdles, Healdsburg’s swim teams are making waves, boasting a record of several wins and only one loss each—an impressive feat given that the only losses have come at the hands of the dominant Windsor teams.

Healdsburg fans have a lot to look forward to with three high-stakes home meets coming up: they’ll dive in against Rancho Cotate on April 8, face off with Windsor on April 10, and battle Piner on April 15. All meets will kick off at 4 PM, and the atmosphere is sure to be electric!

The last encounter with the Windsor Jaguars was a nail-biter, adding to the thrilling narrative of Healdsburg’s swim season. The boys narrowly lost by just one point, while the girls faced a heart-wrenching four-point deficit. Everyone knows that the rivalry between the Hounds and Jaguars creates an electrifying atmosphere—it’s often fondly referred to as “cats versus dogs”!

Junior backstroker and breaststroker Layla Greaves, alongside sophomore Ela Boardman and seniors Gianna Domenichelli and Abby Wetzel, are making waves on the girls’ side of the team.
