Indianapolis Hosts NCAA Wrestling Awards Standings Update

INDIANAPOLIS — As the excitement builds for the upcoming Division I Wrestling Championships, the NCAA has released the latest standings for the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Awards, set to be handed out on March 22. These awards, introduced back in 2012, recognize remarkable achievements among wrestlers in various categories, including the Most Dominant Wrestler, along with the athletes who have recorded the most falls and technical falls during the season.

This year, the standings for the Most Dominant Wrestler award show some impressive performances. Leading the pack is heavyweight champion Wyatt Hendrickson from Oklahoma State. He has maintained his top position with an average of 5.23 points per match. Following close behind are teammates from Penn State, Mitchell Mesenbrink and Carter Starocci, both tied at 4.95 points per match.

In the standings for falls, Kelvin Griffin of Lehigh has been on top since the beginning, amassing a total of 18 falls over an impressive 53 minutes and 45 seconds. However, he’s facing fierce competition from Daulton Mayer of Bellarmine, who trails closely with 17 falls but in a much quicker time of only 33 minutes and 2 seconds.

Furthermore, Mesenbrink has also found himself in a strong position for the technical falls leaderboard, currently holding 16 tech falls which positions him ahead of a three-way tie at 13 tech falls. This tie includes notable wrestlers Matt Ramos from Purdue, Wyatt Henson of Lock Haven, and Parker Keckeisen from Northern Iowa.

All results for these awards are strictly based on matches within the same division, and wrestlers need a minimum of 17 matches and qualification for the national tournament to be eligible. The NCAA continues to emphasize the importance of match performance measured by points awarded, enhancing the competitive spirit as the championship approaches.

As the countdown to the national championships continues, fans are eagerly watching to see how these rankings may shift as wrestlers give it their all on the mat.
