In a disappointing turn of events for the Brockport women’s basketball team, their journey in the 2025 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament came to an abrupt end after a loss to Elizabethtown in the opening round. The game took place on March 7, 2025, and it marked the end of a season filled with high hopes.
Brockport had entered the tournament with a strong roster and the momentum they gained from their performance in the Empire 8 Championship. Just days before their NCAA matchup, they faced off against their in-state rival SUNY Geneseo for the title. In that thrilling championship game, _No. 2 SUNY Geneseo_ edged out _No. 1 SUNY Brockport_ with a close score of 66-63, claiming the Empire 8 Women’s Basketball Championship. Earlier in the season, Brockport had high individual accolades as well.
