Excitement was in the air as both the boys and girls teams of Jefferson High School conquered an away meet held in North Oconee on March 1, 2025. With a competitive spirit and determination, they brought home some serious hardware and accolades!

Team Triumphs

In a thrilling display of athletic prowess, the Jefferson girls finished strong, scoring a whopping 103 points, while the boys weren’t far behind, racking up 90 points. Together, they also competed in the mixed category, wherein they showcased their talents with an additional score of 20 points. It’s a proud moment for Jefferson as both teams clinched first place overall!

Stellar Performances

Among the standout athletes, Rileigh Harrison had a show-stopping performance, landing herself Elite Performance status on the silver level for long jump with an impressive leap of 18-1.5 feet. Hot on her heels, Teah Gales made waves in shot put, also hitting Elite Performance status on the silver level with a throw of 38-3 feet.

We also saw remarkable finishes, such as Hannah Howard sprinting her way to a 3rd place finish in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 12.31 seconds, as Rileigh again showcased her speed with a 5th place finish in the 200 Meter Dash, clocking in at 26.70 seconds. Savannah Reynolds was fast on her feet too, securing a 3rd place in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:03.02.

Relays were a highlight for the Jefferson girls, with impressive finishes across the board. The teams notched up 2nd place in the 4×100 Meter Relay (51.80 seconds), 4×200 Meter Relay (1:48.58), and 4×800 Meter Relay (11:04.10). These events are all about teamwork, and our athletes delivered!

More commendable performances included Violet Patton with a 2nd place finish in both the 300 Meter Hurdles (51.40 seconds) and High Jump (4-10 feet). Meanwhile, over at the Class B State Meet held on May 25, 2024, the Huntley Project girls track and field team celebrated their first state championship win since 2019. They finished strong with a total of 104 points. Avery Gerdes brought her versatility to the forefront with standout performances in the 400m, 800m, and triple jump, while Caidance Merecki dazzled in the 300 hurdles.

Additionally, Brynn Wandle from Huntley Project made headlines by setting a new Class B girls state pole vault record at an astounding 12 feet, 3 inches. The thrill of victory echoed through the Laurel Sports Complex, showcasing that hard work and dedication truly pay off!
