Dahlonega, Ga. — A significant event is on the horizon for college football fans, as for the first time in history, a college football game will take place in Dahlonega. The game is scheduled for October 11, 2025, and will feature an exciting match-up between the The Apprentice School Builders from Newport News, Virginia, and the Lighthouse Christian College Makos from Pensacola, Florida.
Both teams are part of the New South Athletic Conference, a league designated for small schools that operate outside of the NCAA and NAIA platforms. This unprecedented game in Dahlonega promises to display college football talent in Northeast Georgia.
Walker McCrary, the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications at Apprentice, expressed his enthusiasm for this upcoming game, stating, “The opportunity to play at Lumpkin County is a great chance to showcase college football in Northeast Georgia. Personally, it’s special for me to be able to bring college football to my hometown for the first time ever and put LCHS in the spotlight.”
The Apprentice School is known as a trade school where students are trained to work on building aircraft carriers and submarines, primarily for the United States Navy. On the other hand, the Lighthouse Christian College offers online classes with a focus on Christian business studies and aims to inspire students to bring new ideas that can help improve society.
Last season, the Builders wrapped up with a record of 6-5, culminating their 105th season by winning the Neptune Bowl. Meanwhile, the Makos, in their inaugural season as a program in 2024, enjoyed a stellar record of 8-1.
Details about ticket sales and other game-related information will be announced as the season approaches this fall, making this event one to look forward to for local fans and college football enthusiasts alike.
