In Lubbock, football fans are buzzing with excitement as the full roster of the 2024 small-school football Super Team has been announced. This year’s team features standout players from Class 2A, 3A, and TAPPS across the South Plains, honoring their incredible efforts during the season.

The Player of the Year is Post running back Ian Vergara, who has made a name for himself with impressive stats. He rushed for 1,670 yards and scored 21 touchdowns on 220 carries. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, as he was named the district co-offensive MVP.

Another exciting highlight is Littlefield quarterback, who threw for 3,146 yards and 28 touchdowns, while also rushing for 1,416 yards and 27 touchdowns throughout the season. His performance led Littlefield to its deepest playoff run since 2016.

On the defensive side, players like the district MVP, who racked up 98 tackles, have put on a show this season. With 16 tackles for loss, eight sacks, and a stunning ability to pressure quarterbacks, he has been a force to be reckoned with.

Highlighting the amazing passing game this season, Lamesa’s quarterback shone brightly with 2,575 yards and 38 touchdowns in just 298 attempts. This led his team to its first district championship since 2001.

Coaches have also played a significant role in the development of these young athletes. The Post head coach returned the Antelopes to glory with a record of 13-1, leading them to the regional finals for the first time since their back-to-back state championship appearances in 2019 and 2020.

Several other players have also brought home all-district honors with remarkable performance. For instance, one wide receiver caught 84 passes for 1,271 yards and 15 touchdowns, while a standout defensive linebacker achieved 186 tackles with multiple game-changing turnovers.
