In Massachusetts, excitement is buzzing as high school football talent continues to rise to the surface, particularly among the class of 2026 recruits. Among the standout players are Mac Fitzgerald and Marcelino Antunes Jr. from Catholic Memorial, along with Dominic Funke from Xaverian. Fitzgerald and Antunes Jr. played crucial roles in leading Catholic Memorial to its second Div. 2 state championship in three years, triumphing over King Philip last December. Funke, on the other hand, contributed to Xaverian’s back-to-back titles, helping secure their Div. 1 state championship against Needham.
The talent pool in Massachusetts doesn’t stop there. Many top athletes are making verbal commitments and receiving offers from several colleges. For instance, Tyler Hall stands out as a three-star interior lineman, currently ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the state and 25th nationally in his position. Hall, measuring 6-4 and weighing 340 pounds, has drawn interest from a host of schools including Boston College, Penn State, and Tennessee.
Another promising player, Riley Walbridge, is a 6-6, 270-pound offensive tackle ranking 40th nationally at his position. He is also picking up several offers from major programs such as Michigan, North Carolina, and West Virginia among others. With all of this talent, it’s no surprise that both Walbridge and Hall are committed to playing for Boston College.
In the ranks of defensive players, Funke also shines brightly. This 6-3, 230-pound edge rusher holds a position rank of 59th nationally and has garnered offers from universities like Pittsburgh and Wake Forest. Adding to the mix, Jared McNeill, a 6-3, 190-pound quarterback, ranks 53rd nationally and has commitments from schools like Cincinnati and Arkansas as well.
It’s clear that the high school football scene in Massachusetts is thriving, with young athletes making significant strides toward securing their futures in college football. Keep an eye on these exceptional players as they continue to make their mark.
