CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — In a thrilling game that went into overtime, the North Carolina Tar Heels edged out the Boston College Eagles with a final score of 102-96 on Saturday. The Tar Heels’ RJ Davis proved to be a key player, scoring seven points in overtime, while his teammate Seth Trimble made the crucial go-ahead jumper that set the stage for their victory.
As the overtime unfolded, Davis showcased his shooting skills with a critical 3-pointer that gave North Carolina a 94-91 lead with just under three minutes remaining. Boston College quickly responded, tying the game again with a 3-pointer of their own. However, Davis then stepped up, hitting two free throws to put the Tar Heels back in front. The drama continued when Trimble scored a jumper to extend North Carolina’s lead to 98-96 with just 1:42 left, and the Eagles could not find the basket from there.
Davis finished the game as the top scorer for the Tar Heels with 22 points. He was supported by Ian Jackson with 19 points, and both Trimble and Jalen Washington contributing 18 points apiece. Trimble’s performance also included 12 rebounds, marking his second double-double of the season. On the other hand, Donald Hand Jr. led Boston College with 26 points, followed by Dion Brown with 20 points.
The game started off tightly contested, with North Carolina managing a short-lived 8-0 run late in the first half that allowed them to take a 46-45 lead into halftime.
