OLEAN, NY – On February 1, 2025, the St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team from the 1999-2000 season will be honored on their home campus as they celebrate twenty-five years since their memorable run to the NCAA Tournament. The celebration will take place during a game against Fordham, which is set to tip off at 12:30 PM.

Fans and alumni are invited to join the festivities, which will include a post-game reception in the Hall of Fame Room that is open to the public. Many key members of that special team are confirmed to attend, including head coach Jim Baron and players such as Tim Winn, Caswell Cyrus, and J.R. Bremer, among others. Additionally, assistant coaches like Joe Lombardi and Brian Nash will be on hand to share in the festivities.

The 1999-2000 Bonnies were one of the most impressive defensive teams in the program’s history, boasting an overall record of 21-10 while allowing an average of just 64 points per game. During that season, they secured notable non-conference victories against USC and Colorado State, finishing the Atlantic 10 regular season with an 11-5 conference record and taking second in the East Division.

The team made a thrilling run in the A-10 Tournament, defeating Dayton and Xavier before reaching the championship game. Although they faced a tough opponent in the NCAA Tournament, the Bonnies fought hard but fell in a double-overtime match against Kentucky.

During that successful season, both Winn and Cyrus earned All-Conference honors, with Winn being selected for the first team and Cyrus for the third team. They also both made the A-10 All-Defensive Team. The trio of Winn, Cyrus, and Patricio Prato surpassed the 1,000 career points milestone during that season, showcasing their impact on the program. Meanwhile, Bremer, who contributed significantly as the team’s sixth man, later achieved NBA All-Rookie honors with the Boston Celtics.

This celebration promises to be a chance for fans and former players to reflect on a remarkable period in St. Bonaventure’s basketball history.
