Top Players Named for Bevo Francis Award Watch List
In a significant update for college basketball, the Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List has been released for the 2024-25 season, spotlighting some of the finest talents across various divisions. This announcement comes from Small College Basketball and the National Awards Committee. The list highlights outstanding athletes from NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, USCAA, and NCCAA, showcasing their impressive performances on the court.
John McCarthy, the founder of Small College Basketball, expressed his enthusiasm about the achievement, stating, “Congratulations to all 100 players that are on the Bevo Francis Award Watch List of 100 Players.” He further emphasized the significance of this honor, as being chosen is a remarkable feat among approximately 13,000 to 16,000 players competing in these divisions. The selection process not only focuses on individual talent but also considers team success, reflecting the holistic approach to recognizing athletes.
The Bevo Francis Award is a prestigious accolade, given annually to just one player who stands out in the Small College Basketball scene. Evaluating criteria for this award includes season statistics, individual accomplishments, personal character, and team success. This award has been presented for eight years, with a notable list of past winners including personalities from various universities.
This year, the watch list will be trimmed down on February 15 to the Top 50 players, with another cut to the Top 25 by March 15. The finalists will be revealed on April 5, culminating in the announcement of the Bevo Francis Award winner on April 7.
The growing recognition of talent within small college basketball continues to shine a light on the hard work and dedication of these athletes.
