Sharon, Massachusetts – A serious incident occurred during the annual Thanksgiving football game at Sharon High School when sophomore player Rohan Shukla was sent to the hospital following a traumatic brain injury. According to a letter sent to the Sharon community by Superintendent Peter J. Botelho and Principal Kristen Keenan, Shukla collapsed on the sidelines during play.

As soon as the incident happened, the game was terminated immediately, and trainers, coaches, and emergency personnel quickly rushed to assist Shukla. First responders transported him first to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, and later, he was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for further treatment.

The letter expressed the community’s support, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are going out to Rohan, his parents, and his twin brother during this incredibly difficult time.” As of Sunday, a GoFundMe campaign set up for Shukla and his family had raised over $25,000, but donations have since been turned off.

In response to the incident, Sharon Public Schools also provided on-campus resources. Counselors from the district and Riverside Community Services were present at the high school to assist the football team, cheer squad, and other community members seeking support. The letter encouraged parents to discuss the incident with their children and reminded them that staff would be prepared to handle the situation with sensitivity and compassion.

Additionally, for those seeking more services, the community was advised to contact the William James Interface Referral Service at 888-244-6843 for referrals to mental health specialists.
