Portland, Oregon – An October 25 football game between the Tillamook High School Cheesemakers and the Milwaukie High School Mustangs faced serious disruptions, leading to the game being stopped at halftime. The incident was officially attributed to allegations of unsportsmanlike conduct and the reported use of racial slurs, as stated by Tillamook School District 9.

According to a statement released on October 26, “While some of the details surrounding the nature of the event, and the involvement of athletes, coaches, and officials are still unclear, we are committed to launching an investigation to resolve this matter.” The district emphasized that any such behavior would not align with the values and standards they strive to uphold.

Tillamook School District 9 board member Ryan Lewis shared more context, indicating that both teams were accused of using offensive language during the match held at Tillamook High. The game was ultimately ended at halftime when Milwaukie High refused to return to the field unless one official was removed. Lewis noted, “All five officials objected to that.”

On the other side of the incident, a spokesperson for North Clackamas Schools mentioned that they would not comment on the situation until the Oregon School Activities Association wraps up its investigation.

As for the game itself, the Tillamook Cheesemakers emerged victorious with a commanding score of 45-7 over the Milwaukie Mustangs. The investigation into the allegations continues, and further details are awaited as the situation unfolds.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of sportsmanship and respect within high school athletics.
