Nashville Brothers Team Up to Coach High School Football
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Football is back under the Friday night lights, and this season, the coaching staff has a special twist. Two former NFL quarterbacks, who just happen to be brothers, are taking their knowledge of the game to the high school level. Matt and Tim Hasselbeck are now leading the football team at Ensworth Academy in Nashville, combining their years of experience in the NFL to guide young players.
For Matt Hasselbeck, an 18-year veteran of the league and former Super Bowl participant, stepping into the role of offensive coordinator is a fulfilling opportunity. After being let go by ESPN, he expressed, “It’s awesome, it’s a dream come true.” This coaching role has allowed him to focus more on family while contributing to the sport he loves.
His younger brother, Tim, brings his own impressive background to the field. Having played eight seasons in the NFL and experiencing being cut multiple times, Tim understands the challenges young athletes face. He highlighted the importance of camaraderie by saying, “You’re playing with the guys that you go to class with, that you eat lunch with, that you socialize with.” Tim believes these connections can lead to friendships that last a lifetime, making the experience of high school football even more meaningful.
In a unique family connection, both brothers are coaching their sons through football. Matt’s son, Henry, is now a freshman quarterback at UCLA, while Tim’s son, Taylor, is the starting quarterback at Ensworth, learning from his dad and uncle. This blend of family and football not only strengthens their bond but also enriches the team’s spirit.
As the Hasselbecks lead their team into the season, their dedication to the game and to shaping young minds stands as a testament to their love for football and family.
