As September comes to an end, Pennsylvania high school football rankings are seeing some exciting shifts. Malvern Prep recently delivered a surprising victory over the top team from Washington D.C., marking a notable win. Meanwhile, Upper Saint Clair, Monsignor Bonner, and Central Catholic also secured important intra-state victories, showcasing the competitive spirit of this year’s high school football season.
The On3 Massey Ratings, well-known for ranking sports teams since 1995 by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory, have updated their leaderboard. As of September 30, St. Joseph’s stands tall at 3-1 after decisively defeating Father Judge 42-13 last Friday. The Hawks are on a roll, having won three straight games since their only loss against St. Edward (Ohio) in week one. They currently boast the No. 1 offense and No. 2 defense statewide and are led by numerous college prospects.
This coming Friday, St. Joseph’s will face its toughest test yet as they go on the road to challenge No. 2 LaSalle College, which remains undefeated at 6-0. LaSalle has shown impressive form, including a commanding 48-0 victory over Cardinal O’Hara last week.
Malvern Prep’s victory has also seen them climb back up the rankings to No. 3 after an earlier win against Gonzaga. The Friars are 3-2 overall, while the standout defense led by junior Cameron Brickle keeps proving pivotal. Meanwhile, Pine-Richland has been absolutely dominant, scoring 71 points in a recent shutout against Fox Chapel Area and currently sits undefeated in 2024.
Central Catholic continues to show its strength, improving to 4-2 after defeating No. 11 North Allegheny. They are on the radar for their upcoming match against Franklin Regional. On the other hand, Upper Saint Clair has made a significant jump in the rankings to No. 7 after an impressive win over previously ranked Peters Township.
Other teams like Freedom and Harrisburg are also marking their ground with impressive performances this season. Harrisburg aims to keep its winning streak alive against Altoona this Friday. Amidst this competitive atmosphere, the chase for that top spot intensifies.
As the high school football season heads into October, fans are eager to witness what unfolds in this thrilling landscape. Stay tuned for more updates!
