Lincoln, NE – The start of district play in high school football has resulted in plenty of mismatches across classes, yet this week’s rankings see little change as teams continue to assert their dominance. In the top rankings for Class A, Millard South remains at No. 1 following a strong performance against Lincoln Southeast, winning 56-12. They sit at an impressive record of 4-1, showcasing their scoring ability with another game surpassing 50 points.

Coming in second is Omaha Westside, who improved to 5-0 after defeating Omaha Central 48-14. Meanwhile, others in the top five, including Elkhorn South, Papillion-La Vista, and Kearney, also kept their spots stable, with Papillion’s notable climb to No. 4 after defeating the previously fifth-ranked Creighton Prep 22-3. This win displayed their capacity for shutting down opponents, particularly in the second half.

In Class B, Bennington, still undefeated at 5-0, continues to hold the top position after a 56-35 win against Gretna. Close behind is Elkhorn North, who remains unscathed with a 21-7 victory over Blair.

Class C has no surprises either as Wahoo, Ashland-Greenwood, and Columbus Lakeview, all boasting winning records, have managed to retain their positions in the rankings. Wahoo’s recent 50-0 win over DC West solidifies their lead in the standings.

Looking at Class D, Stanton continues to stand tall in first place. They recently defeated Lutheran High Northeast 62-8, improving their record to 5-0. Another strong contender is Sandy Creek, still showing an impeccable performance with another win under their belt.

Overall, the initial stages of district play have not only revamped rankings but also showcased the evolving strength of various teams as they head toward the later parts of the season. Fans will be eager to see how these teams continue to perform in the coming weeks as challenges mount. With competitive matchups on the horizon, every game matters for playoff positioning.
