Des Moines, Iowa – This week’s high school football poll brings a sense of familiarity as the top three teams in all seven classes remain unchanged from last week. After several weeks of intense competition, particularly in Class 5A, the current rankings reflect a steady state, almost making the outcome predictable.

In Class 5A, West Des Moines Valley holds a narrow lead over West Des Moines Dowling, both boasting a record of 4-1. Dowling edged Valley with a close 26-23 victory in their matchup during Week 2, earning them four of the six first-place votes. However, Valley secured slightly more poll points with a total of 56 compared to Dowling’s 55. The battle doesn’t stop there, as Bettendorf and Pleasant Valley remain in the third and fourth spots respectively, with Ankeny Centennial rejoining the top five.

The Class 4A standings are dominated by unbeaten teams, with Lewis Central comfortably holding the top spot. Following them are Pella, North Polk, and Gilbert, while Decorah climbed a notch to fifth place ahead of their upcoming game against Waverly-Shell Rock.

In Class 3A, Solon continues to lead, trailed closely by Algona, Williamsburg, and Dubuque Wahlert. The top six teams in this class remain stable. As for Class 2A, West Lyon, Monroe PCM, and Spirit Lake each maintain their unbeaten records at the top.

In Class 1A, Grundy Center stays strong in the lead with a perfect record, closely followed by Wilton and a trio of teams vying for spots behind them. Additionally, in Class A, Guthrie Center ACGC and West Hancock are in a tight race for the top position, holding 58 and 56 poll points respectively.

Lastly, the 8-Player rankings showcase Remsen St. Mary’s dominating at the top with an undefeated record. In total, the consistency in rankings this week illustrates a growing stability across the classes as teams look ahead to their upcoming games.
