South Range Raiders Comeback to Defeat Poland Bulldogs 38-23
CANFIELD, Ohio – In an exciting high school football game on Friday night, the South Range Raiders rallied back from a 14-0 deficit to defeat the Poland Bulldogs with a final score of 38-23. This game marked an intense battle for the top spot in the Northeast 8 Conference.
Poland started strong, with quarterback Vito Komara scoring the first touchdown of the game on a 12-yard run midway through the first quarter. The Bulldogs quickly extended their lead as David Xipolitas dashed 71 yards for another touchdown, putting Poland ahead 14-0.
However, South Range quickly turned the game around. The Raiders answered back with an impressive 80-yard drive that ended with a 1-yard touchdown run by Troy Combs. Sparked by a blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown by Heath Crouse, South Range tied the game at 14-14.
As the game continued, South Range maintained the momentum. An interception by Gaven Nagy set the Raiders up for their first lead of the night. Tristian Toy connected for a touchdown, giving South Range a 21-14 lead. The Raiders wouldn’t stop there, extending their lead to 28-14 just before halftime.
In the second half, the Raiders continued to dominate. Aiden Dominguez scored on a 28-yard run, pushing the score to 35-14. A successful 28-yard field goal by Luke Starkey capped off a strong series, bringing the lead to 38-14.
Poland fought back late in the game, managing to score two more touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough. The Bulldogs brought the score to 38-23 with a late-game touchdown pass from Komara to Oliver McCully and a field goal.
With this win, South Range improves to 6-0 for the season, showing strong performance and resilience against the Bulldogs, who now sit at 4-2 overall. The Raiders were able to turn the tide with their defensive play and swift offensive execution.
