Latest Pennsylvania High School Football Rankings Released

The latest high school football top 25 rankings in Pennsylvania have been revealed on September 16th, following an action-packed weekend. Utilizing the Massey Ratings, a respected ranking system that has been around since 1995, these rankings consider factors like game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory to determine where teams stand.

At the top of the list, St. Joseph’s Prep School remains undefeated after pulling off a narrow victory against No. 4 Good Counsel (M.D.) on their home turf, winning 21-19. This close finish was surprising as the Massey Ratings had predicted a more decisive 35-20 outcome. St. Joseph’s has a big match lined up against Father Judge at home this Friday.

LaSalle also had a great game, dominating Episcopal Academy with an impressive 48-3 victory, blowing past the predicted 42-12 win by akin margin. Next week, they will head out to play against Cardinal O’Hara, but the big clash against St. Joseph’s is coming in two weeks.

Pine-Richland continues to showcase their strength, winning against Plum 43-7, which was in line with their expected 42-6 victory. This win solidifies their position as the No. 3 team in Pennsylvania.

Peters Township improved their season record to 5-0 with a decisive 38-0 rout of West Allegheny. Their performance aligned with the Massey prediction of 41-7, and they are set to take on No. 12 Upper Saint Clair next.

Manheim Township also made its mark by shutting out Hempfield 38-0 and moving up two spots in the rankings. The Blue Streaks look strong without any tough games lined up in the immediate future.

The Central Catholic team had a solid week as well, with a 42-0 victory against Norwin. They have a highly anticipated match coming up against No. 7 Allegheny next Friday, which is sure to shake up the rankings.

Despite a victory, Roman Catholic dropped in the rankings after a heavy loss to No. 3 DeMatha Catholic (M.D.). Their disappointing performance has likely caused concern amongst fans.

Looking forward, many teams have the opportunity to climb the rankings. Freedom might have faced a setback after dominating William Allen 56-16; they dropped two spots. The upcoming months will be crucial for teams like Freedom, Harrisburg, and Upper Saint Clair, as they look to secure their places in the rankings.

For fans eager to catch the action, games are available to watch live on the NFHS Network throughout the football season.
