São Paulo – The Green Bay Packers faced a tough blow in their season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, falling 34-29. The game took a concerning turn for the Packers when their quarterback, Jordan Love, sustained a lower left leg injury with just six seconds remaining on the clock.

As the clock wound down, Love was trying to make a final push for the game when he was hit by two Eagles defenders. The impact appeared to twist his leg as he went down after completing a 33-yard pass to Jayden Reed. He was unable to finish the game and needed assistance to the sideline. Although he seemed to move a bit better while heading to the locker room, he still required the help of head athletic trainer Nate Weir and running back Josh Jacobs.

In the postgame news conference, Coach Matt LaFleur was asked about Love’s injury status but could only respond, “I don’t know,” on two occasions. Love did not address reporters after the game. His teammate, wide receiver Christian Watson, expressed confidence in Love’s resilience, stating, “We know what kind of guy he is. Whatever it is, I know he’s going to get through it. We’re going to get through it.”

After Love’s departure, Malik Willis, who was acquired via trade just last week, took over for the final two snaps but could not lead the team to a comeback. The only other quarterback available for the Packers is Sean Clifford, who was released earlier but has since re-signed to the practice squad.

This was a particularly significant game for Love, marking his first regular-season appearance since signing a four-year, $220 million contract in July, making him one of the league’s highest-paid players. In the game, Love completed 17 of 34 passes for 260 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

Defensive lineman Kenny Clark commented on the situation, saying, “That’s the franchise right there. Hopefully, he can be back next week and he can be all right.”
